New York, NY, United States (CNS) – Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons was ready to end his ongoing war with veteran comedian Bill Cosby, but it seems that the veteran comedian was still holding a grudge. Cosby apparently told Simmons to “Get the f*** out of my face” when the latter tried to apologize to him.
Their feud started a couple of years back when Cosby launched his State of Emergency campaign, calling for the clean up of the lyrics used in hip-hop music.
Simmons, 53, opposed his campaign, telling Global Grind that the older man is an “example of someone from the older generation who has consistently blamed the poets and asked suffering community members to bare the full burden of guilt for the struggles that they endure what they don’t understand is that the young people who they criticize did not create their own realities.”
But now, Simmons was ready to make amends. He saw the opportunity to approach the 73-year-old Emmy and Grammy-winning actor at the Jackie Robinson Annual Awards Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria, where Cosby was the emcee of the event and Simmons was a presenter.
Simmons wrote on the Global Grind that he feels remorse for judging him, wanting to say sorry about his statements and to tell him that he loves him.
But instead of accepting, Cosby told him to “Get the f*** out of my face!”
He wrote: “Anyhow, I love Bill. His next move was straight up old school pre b-boy hood s***. He walked by me and bumped me with his shoulder as I walked off stage after presenting my award to Sean [Combs, Diddy], just like the cool a** character in ‘Let’s Do It Again.’”
“I then loved him even more. He’s from the same hood I’m from, just got a lucky break like me, cause I am those suffering men. And after that elbow I knew he was too.”
