Pitbull responds to Lindsay Lohan lawsuit, says lyrics were misinterpreted

Anthony Jones – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – Lindsay Lohan hit rapper Pitbull with a lawsuit over a line in his #1 single “Give Me Everything” with Ne-Yo. But he says he had no intentions of hurting her whatsoever and, in fact, was hoping to keep her relevant.

“I was very surprised when I found out about the lawsuit,” Pitbull said. “To me it was very ironic, to be honest with you. At first I read it and I thought, ‘It’s gotta be a joke.’ [But] come to find out that’s it’s very realistic.”

Pitbull sat down for an interview with his official website, PlanetPit.com, where he stressed that the line in question, where he raps “I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan,” was misinterpreted.

“When I was mentioning Lindsay Lohan on the record, it was a positive message,” Pitbull says. “When I say got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan, it means you run that area.”

That might be a bit of a stretch but Pitbull says he’s all about the positivity on his work and he’s supported Lindsay throughout her career and even her hard times. He also thought mentioning her in a song, which shot all the way to the top of the charts and sold millions of singles, might even help. Instead, Lohan cited mental anguish and irreparable harm in the lawsuit.

“In no way shape or form would I want to bring that on anybody and I didn’t look to defamate, degrade, or hurt someone’s career,” Pitbull added. “For me mentioning it on a No. 1 record around the world, I thought it would be helping someone’s career and also keeping them relevant.”

Pitbull will perform the song live at this Sunday’s Video Music Awards on MTV and even extends an invitation for Lindsay to join him.

Mark and Donnie Wahlberg to open burger joint

Anthony Jones – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – So when you imagine a Mark Wahlberg and Donnie Wahlberg collaboration, you probably figure it’d be on film or on stage with the New Kids on the Block. But instead, the brothers are teaming up to open up a new burger joint.

According to the Boston Herald, Mark, Donnie and older brother Paul Wahlberg are set to open Wahlburgers in Boston. The trio recently secured the name, which had been previously trademarked.

“It’s a good-sounding brand so we could put out the product with, a great name people could relate to,” their business partner, Ed St. Croix, told the Boston Herald.

Paul will serve as the restaurant’s chef. The brothers already have an Italian restaurant in Boston named Alma Nove.

In addition to Wahlburgers, which will also sell hot dogs, fries, and shakes, the brothers also plan on opening a pizza restaurant.

Lady Gaga to guest star on “The Simpsons”

Anthony Jones – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – “The Simpsons” has frequently had stars come on board for guest voice spots, such as Britney Spears, Daniel Radcliffe, and even the cast of “Glee.” Now, in an upcoming episode, the show is going gaga for Lady Gaga.

For it’s 23rd season, Lady Gaga just hit the studio to record her lines for the upcoming episode “Lisa Goes Gaga,” which sees her trying to cheer up Lisa Simpson who’s suffering a bout of low-self-esteem.

Even in colorfully animated yellow, Gaga fans can still expect plenty of singing, dancing, a whole slew of wardrobe changes, and even sharing a kiss with Marge.

“I play a little bit of a slut,” Gaga told Entertainment Weekly. “The apple doesn’t fall far from my artistic tree.”

But although Gaga might be used to performing in front of thousands of fans (millions when she takes the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday), she called doing some of her first voice-acting “nerve-wracking.”

“I make music, but I don’t do voice-overs every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humor,” Gaga told EW.

While the episode won’t air until spring 2012, Lady Gaga definitely thinks it’s worth the wait. “I would say this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” she says.

Lindsay Lohan sues rapper Pitbull over “Give Me Everything”

Anthony Jones – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – Lindsay Lohan is doing some damage control on her image and she’s not letting a damaging reference to her on a hit song slide. She’s suing rapper Pitbull over his #1 single “Give Me Everything.”

According to TMZ, Lohan is suing over the line where Pitbull references her legal troubles, rapping, “I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.”

Lohan claims in the lawsuit that “the lyrics, by virtue of its wide appeal, condemnation, excoriation, disparaging or defamatory statements by the defendants about the plaintiff are destined to do irreparable harm to the plaintiff.”

The song was released back in March and topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in June. It’s remained in the top 10 since and has sold over 2 million copies.

“Give Me Everything” also features Ne-Yo and Afrojack, who are also named defendants in the lawsuit.

Lindsay isn’t exactly asking Pitbull to “Give Me Everything” as far as money goes. She just wants to stop all broadcasting of the song, which will definitely be hard to do. It’s currently one of the biggest songs at radio and Pitbull and Ne-Yo are even scheduled to perform the track at next week’s MTV “Video Music Awards.”

In the lawsuit, filed by Stephanie Ovadia (who also helped with the Linsday’s E*TRADE ad lawsuit), Lindsay says she’s “suing under the New York civil rights laws, which protects people from having their name exploited for commercial purposes.”

‘Real Housewives’ husband Russell Armstrong commits suicide

Damian Grass – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Russell Armstrong has died of an apparent suicide.

Armstrong, whose struggling relationship with wife Taylor Armstrong was aired throughout the Bravo show’s first season, was found dead Monday night in his bedroom in his home in Los Angeles, after he apparently hanged himself, reports TMZ.

Police officials say they responded to Armstrong’s home on Mulholland Drive after they received an emergency call from a roommate who found Armstrong’s body.

No suicide note was found on the scene.

TMZ reported that some of the cast of “Real Housewives” were being told of his death, including Kyle Richards and Lisa Vanderpump, who were said to be “speechless” and “distraught” over the news.

Their difficult marriage continued to make headlines way after the show’s first season ended.

Taylor Armstrong, who shared 5-year-old daughter Kennedy with her husband, filed for divorce in July and had revealed to People magazine that her six-year marriage was full of physical and verbal abuse.

“I felt like I was dying inside,” she said, adding that the finalization of filing for divorce has brought her “some sense of peace.”

Russell Armstrong later went on the defense.

“Did I push her? Yes, maybe things happened in the heat of the moment, but it was during a time in our lives that was not characteristic of who we were,” he said. “This show has literally pushed us to the limit.”

The new season of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 15.
