Justin Bieber earns second #1 album on Billboard with “Never Say Never: The Remixes”

Anthony Jones – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (CNS) – If you thought Justin Bieber couldn’t hit #1 with a remix album, he does just that with the appropriately titled “Never Say Never: The Remixes.” Bieber earns his second #1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart with the compilation, which features collaborations with Kanye West, Rascal Flatts, and the title track with Jaden Smith.

The album, a companion to his hit concert film, sells 161,000 copies in its first week. “Never Say Never: The Remixes” follows Bieber’s previous top 10 albums “My World,” “My World 2.0,” and “My Worlds Acoustic,” making it a third time he’s packaged some of these songs on an album.

He also becomes the first artist since Jennifer Lopez back in 2002 to earn a #1 album with a remix compilation. She accomplished the feat with “J-To-the-LO! The Remixes.”

Mumford & Sons follow at #2 for another week with “Sigh No More,” earning a big Grammy boost (and a sales increase of 169% from last week), selling 133,000 copies. Last week’s #1, “Now 37,” is down two spots to #3 this week. Featuring tracks from Ke$ha and Katy Perry, the album moves 95,000 copies in its second week.

Jumping back into the top 10 are Grammy winners Lady Antebellum, who picked up awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, for the title track to their album “Need You Now,” which jumps into the #4 spot selling 85,000 copies and seeing a 205% sales jump.

Bruno Mars follows at #5 with “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” selling 61,000 copies. Eminem follows at #6, selling another 61,000 copies of his latest “Recovery.” The “2011 Grammy Nominees” compilation, featuring music from Cee Lo Green and Arcade Fire, climbs into the top 10, selling 56,000 copies.

Justin Bieber has a second album in the top 10 this week, “My World 2.0,” which sells yet another 54,000 copies. The album drops down five spots from last week where it climbed up to #3 following his big-screen debut in “Never Say Never.”

At #9 is Nicki Minaj with “Pink Friday,” selling 46,000 copies. Closing out the top 10 this week is Rihanna with “Loud,” which sells 45,000 this week.

Audio Mixing Software You Can Afford

So you’ve decided to make an awesome new techno remix of a song you just heard on the radio.  You’re excited to recreate that feeling the song implies by mixing it in with a new beat and tossing in some cool pop cultural lines from audio clips in movies and television.  Sounds great.   But now you’ve got to get your hands on some audio mixing software that isn’t going to make you broke.   Good news, there are some amazing programs out there that are FREE and allow you overall great flexibility in mixing audio files.

First there is a program called Audacity, which is hyped as a professional mixing program but it’s user interface is very understandable and easy to get used to.  It’s awesome for someone who isn’t very familiar with the whole process of audio mixing.  The software allows you to save your completed remix to an MP3 player as well so you can easily take it to play for friends.

Ultramixer is a free edition of its larger parent program and is good for putting together fast and simple remixes.  It’s slightly more technical so it helps to have an existing knowledge of audio mixing before you begin but it’s not so touch that you can’t get the hang of it.  Additionally, they’ve recently updated the program to more easily deal with a larger audio library.  So you can work with more files and source music without getting slowed down by computer lag.

There is another program on the market for free called Opensebj which only works with Windows computers.  It’s very multi-faceted in the variety of remixing tools you have at your disposal.  Not bad for first time mixers and gives you awesome flexibility if you’re a more experienced remix DJ.   AVS Audio Editor is also a free program much like Opensebj which allows a great deal of batch editing and manipulating multiple sound files.

Based on your computer, operating system, and internet connection, some programs are going to work better for you than others.  It’s best to try out a few different freebies in order to find the one that’s best for you.  Get that techno remix out there, my friends!
