Beach Boys are back with 50th anniversary tour, album

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – Good vibrations are reverberating across the globe after surf rock group The Beach Boys announced a 50th anniversary tour and new album.

Brian Wilson, revered by many as one of the most talented songwriters in pop history, is putting his differences and grudges aside and join Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks for a new album and a 50-date tour.

Wilson had denied rumors of a reunion, saying that he “didn’t really like working with the guys.” But in a change of heart, he decided that perhaps he really didn’t dislike working with them that much. He nows says of the tour and album: “This anniversary is special to me because I miss the boys and it will be a thrill for me to make a new record and be on stage with them again.”

The tour will kick off on April 27 in New Orleans.

The Beach Boys began in Hawthorne, CA, in 1961. They became known for iconic hits that conjure up images of a carefree Southern California beach lifestyle, complete with convertibles and romance.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, the Beach Boys hold the title for America’s top selling band, and they also hold the record for the most Billboard Top 40 chart hits, with 36 songs.

Bieber a daddy?

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – A Bieber baby?

A fan claims that Justin Bieber, 17, is the father of her child. His legal team is denying the allegations.

Maria Yeater of California claims she had sex with the pop sensation a year ago and that a 3-month-old baby boy is his.

RadarOnline first reported the claims, writing, “in a signed affidavit, sworn under penalty of perjury, Yeater told a California court that Bieber propositioned her on Oct. 25 of last year when she was 19. The pair had a sexual tryst after his concert and backstage at L.A.’s Staples Center.”

The charges could seriously damage Bieber’s squeaky clean boy-next-door image. He has openly criticized casual sex, and would have been just 16 at the time of the alleged encounter.

The charges could also seriously damage the relationship he is in currently in with Disney star Selena Gomez.

Cyndi Lauper flubs National Anthem at U.S. Open

Flushing Meadows, NY, United States (AHN) – Add Cyndi Lauper to the growing list of celebrities to flub the National Anthem.

The pop singer was performing the Star Spangled Banner at the U.S. Open in a Sept.11 tribute when she stumbled on a few words.

Instead of signing “O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming,” Lauper sang, “O’er the ramparts we watched as our flag was still streaming.”

In February, Christina Aguilera was criticized when she fumbled over lines as she performed the National Anthem during the Super Bowl.

Lauper sang before the semifinal match between Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki.

Ricky Martin hopes to add a daughter to his brood; see same-sex marriage legal in Puerto Rico

London, England, United Kingdom (Celebrity News Service) – Latin pop star Ricky Martin says he hopes to add a little girl to his brood.

During a recent interview with British newspaper The Gaurdian, the 39-year-old singer revealed that he would like to have a little sister for his three-year-old twin sons Matteo and Valentino.

The two boys were born in August 2008 via a surrogate.

Martin, who is set to star as Che Guevara in the Broadway show of “Evita” next year in New York City, said he wishes to have a daughter once his performances are over.

“I’ll be steady in New York, and then, after I do the play, the baby will be born, and I’m going to be able to spend time with her.”

With same-sex marriage now legal in New York, the openly gay singer also said he hopes the same happens in his Caribbean homeland of Puerto Rico, so that he could marry his longtime boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez there.

“It’s funny because, you know, we never talked about it, but now the question is coming up in interviews all the time,” he said. “The other day we were reading a magazine and we were like, ‘You’re cool with this, right? No pressure?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m cool, everything is cool.’ Not yet.”

Martin said he hopes the ban gets lifted during his children’s lifetime.

“Whenever it’s time, I would love the option to marry in my land, my island. But unfortunately it’s not an option for us yet, which I think is ridiculous. But it’s part of a very beautiful process that’s happening around the world little by little. Hopefully I will see it, and my kids will see it.”

Enrique Iglesias and Shakira lead Billboard Latin Music nominations

Miami, FL, United States (CNS) – International superstar Enrique Iglesias dominates the list of finalists for the 22nd annual Billboard Latin Music awards.

The “I Like It” singer received 14 nominations while Latin hip shaker Shakira followed close behind with 13.

Telemundo announced the nominees Thursday during a live broadcast of its morning show, “Levantate.”

Each year, the Billboard Latin Music Awards recognizes the most popular Latin music on the charts and features top solo performers & Latin groups vying for top honors in such categories as pop, rock, tropical, Mexican regional music and Reggaeton.

Iglesias, who is currently on tour to promote his highly successful album, “Euphoria,” is nominated for Latin Artist of the Year, Latin Pop Airplay and Hot Latin Song of the Year, among others.

Columbian singer Shakira could also take home a few Billboard awards of her own for her hit songs “Loca” and “Waka Waka(This Time for Africa,” which became the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Mexican trio Camila is competing for 10 awards, veteran singer Juan Luis Guerra is up for nine awards and Bachata sensation Aventura and Miami-born rapper Pitbull are vying for seven.

In Billboard’s more surprising finalists is singer Lady Gaga, whose English-language songs “Alejandro,” “Bad Romance” and “Paparazzi” have crossed over to Latin music stations. The singer is being nominated for Hot Latin Songs Artist of the year, female, a nod for her influence on Latin radio’s increasing willingness to play Top 40 mainstream acts as part of their mix.

Other nominated artists include Daddy Yankee, Marc Anthony, Don Omar and Bachata newcomer Prince Royce.

Billboard has yet announced the winners of this year’s prestigious Spirit of Hope, Lifetime Achievement and Hall of Fame Awards. Previous honorees include Willy Chirino, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin and Jose Feliciano.

Telemundo will air the 22nd annual Billboard Latin Music Awards live on April 28 from the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami.

The oldest and finest forms of human expression is MUSIC. Representing the most ancient literature is Vedas known to the world, are set to a distinctive melody that has been passed down through the centuries in an unbroken oral tradition. Being an abstract art form there are many definitions given to music. Invisible lines and colours of sound on the canvas of silence is a painting of a Music .Music is what we feel from the heart.. The waves of oceans, the embrace of bamboo branches, vibrations of atoms and heartbeats: music is omni present. Music can be divided into Western classical, Hindustani classical, Carnatic classical, folk, Jazz, Pop Music, Fusion, etc. Of these there can be further identification of Vocal and Instrumental music. Within instrumental there can be differentiation of percussive instruments as well as wind and string instruments. In India, the arts have been classified by the scriptures into two major streams known as margi and desi that can be roughly translated as classical and folk. Numerous texts such as the Sangeeta Ratnakara of Saarangadeva lay down the basic tenets of classical music.

The two major systems of classical music today are the Hindustani and the Carnatic. Though today they appear in diferent styles, they in fact have their origins in a common theory and source as is apparent from ancient treatises.
