Lady Gaga Fragrance On The Way

Anthony Jones – AHN Entertainment Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – What do little monsters smell like? We’ll find out soon enough. Lady Gaga will join pop titans like Britney Spears and Beyoncé currently enjoying the sweet smell of success with the release of her very own fragrance.

Lady Gaga will team up with global beauty brand Coty Inc. for her first outing in the celebrity perfume business. Coty also helped launch fragrances for Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, and Kylie Minogue, among others.

The scent will be developed by the masterminds at Coty along with Gaga, as Creative Director, and the rest of her Haus of Gaga team. The currently untitled fragrance will unveil more details closer to its release date. It’s currently expected to hit stores in the spring of 2012.

“The marketing behind Lady Gaga’s fragrance will be unprecedented and groundbreaking,” said Steve Mormoris, Sr. VP of Global Marketing for Coty Beauty. “We are working toward distilling the brilliance of Lady Gaga into a fragrance that delivers a breathtaking olfactory experience and a timeless, enduring packaging design that is part of Lady Gaga’s overall artistic sensibility.”

We don’t know what olfactory means, but we can’t wait to see what the bottle looks like! In the meantime, Gaga continues her “Monster Ball” world tour through 2011 and is set to release her new album, tentatively titled “Born This Way,” next year as well.

University Of Carolina Professor Launches Lady Gaga Sociology Course

Anne Lu – AHN Entertainment Contributor

Columbia, SC, United States (AHN) – Lady Gaga is now a university course. Sociology professor Mathieu Deflem has announced that he will be teaching “Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame” course at the University of South Carolina starting this spring.

The professor, a fan of the 24-year-old singer who owns hundreds of copies of Gaga’s albums, thinks that Gaga’s fame is a social event. He also thinks he is qualified to teach the subject as he has seen her perform 29 times since seeing the artist live for the first time in Atlanta last year.

And when he once ran into her in a Texas airport, Gaga apparently recognized him and now knows him by name.

He told the university’s student paper the Daily Game Cock, “We’re going to look at Lady Gaga as a social event. So it’s not the person, and it’s not the music. It’s more this thing out there in society that has 10 million followers on Facebook and six million of Twitter. I mean, it’s a social phenomenon. It’s a global social phenomenon.”

“What is important about the course is it isn’t a musicology course. It also isn’t a literary criticism course. It’s not a poetry course. It’s not like a dance course. It’s not an art course. It’s distinctly sociological.”

But while Deflem looks like just another star struck “little monster” who incorporates his obsession with Gaga on his profession, he is actually a Ph.D holder in sociology who has decades of teaching experience, which include courses on The Policing of Terrorism, History of Social Thought, and the Criminology of Theory among many others.

The course won’t be dealing with Gaga in the first weeks as well. She will just be used as a real-life example detailing sociological traits.

Deflem continued, “Initially I thought I should call the course the Sociology of Fame or the Sociology of Celebrity, and then I was going to use Lady Gaga as an example. Then I thought, ‘Oh, what the hell? Let’s make the whole freaking course about Lady Gaga and her rise to fame.”

And as expected, Deflem’s choice of name attracted criticisms and some praise from both university students and the whole blogosphere in general.

The course has its own blog as well (gagacourse.net). It will start in Spring 2011.

Worst Artists of 2009 – Songs that Annoy Me Half to Death

Their songs are overplayed, they’re super overrated, and their music is just not good anymore, in some cases it never was. Here are five stars from 2009 whose songs annoy the crap outta me even though they are the most famous, most liked, most popular musicians of the year.

The Worst ‘Best’ Artists of 2009

Lady Ga Ga

I think this super eccentric lady that came out of nowhere is by far the most overrated, overplayed musician of the year. Her songs are extremely poppy but they get more hits than literally anything else on YouTube. Is it really just her racy videos that get her views? I hope not, to me they are straight up stupid, gawdy, and unoriginal. This lady says she wears masks to cover up her ugliness, how about you leave the world of music all together. I can honestly say with confidence that Lady Ga Ga was the worst ‘best’ artist of 2009.

Jonas brothers

I don’t think I’ve heard much of these guys’ music. But I do hear way too much about these three “heart throbs” on Entertainment Tonight and I don’t know why. They are on the cover of Rolling Stones, really? I don’t see what the big deal is, to me it’s Hanson all over again. Do we really need another boy band? Are these Abercrombie and Fitch boys even old enough to sit at on the bar stool? At any rate, Hey Jonas, what’s your song called again? I must change the station every time it comes on.

Miley Cyrus

As much as I want to like this cute and spunky superstar, I just can’t do it. This pre-teen pop sensation began her career on the Disney Channel and I think she should stay there a few more years. She’s an alright singer, and I’ll admit she can sure round up the crowds and sell out shows, but do people over the age 16 like her music? I guess so, but I really just can’t stand the sound that comes out when this girl speaks. Hannah Montana, I want to love you like everyone else, but your song “Party in the U.S.A.” is a little too pop for me, or perhaps it was just overplayed. At any rate, it’s pretty annoying.

Mariah Carey

“Why you so obsessed with me?” Come on honey, aren’t you pushing forty? I loved Mariah back in the day, I mean who doesn’t sing along to fantasy when they hear the O.D.B. version, it’s a definite head bopper. But how annoying is the song obsessed? If we could ban that song from the radio for good, that would be just great, thanks.

Beyonce

Her last 3 videos have all looked identical, she’s becoming increasingly provocative, in a sleezy, unfavorable way, and her voice is good, but straight up annoying. “My guilty pleasure I ain’t goin’ no where…” I’ll admit, I know her lyrics, but maybe that’s because her song is overplayed on every single radio station that will play her songs. I’m sorry but plenty of girls love her music, but I am not a fan.

So there you have it, what I think are the most overrated, most annoying, and the worst musicians of 2009.
