Los Angeles, CA, United States (CNS) – Smack in the middle of the winter cold, Disney will thankfully release one of this year’s most heartwarming movies on DVD and Blu-ray.
“Secretariat,” also known as “that horse movie with Diane Lane,” tells the true story of the 1973 Triple Crown winner.
Lane stars as mom and housewife Penny Chenery, who thrusts herself into the world of horse-racing when she agrees to take over her ailing father’s stables. With the help of veteran trainer Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich), she fosters the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years in this rousing true story.
“Secretariat,” from the producers of other Disney sports dramas like “Miracle” and “Invincible,” grossed over $57 million at the U.S. box office. The film, which also stars James Cromwell, AJ Michalka, Dylan Walsh, and Kevin Connolly, was given 4 stars by Roger Ebert, who called it “one of the year’s best films.”
Both the DVD and Blu-ray will include deleted scenes, a music video for AJ Michalka’s “It’s Who You Are,” and the featurette “Heart of a Champion, all about the film’s famous namesake horse.
The Blu-ray also includes exclusive additional features, including an audio commentary with director Randall Wallace, additional deleted scenes, “Choreographing the Races” and “A Director’s Inspiration: A Conversation With The Real Penny Chenery” featurettes, and more.
“Secretariat” gallops onto DVD and Blu-ray on January 25th, 2011. It’ll be available on DVD and Blu-ray and DVD combo packs.
