how to sing correctly is an amazing talent to have if you are an amateur vocalist or learning to be a pro singer because singing is a source of joy, enjoyment and emotional release as well as a social skill of great regard.

that being said, learning to vocalize properly and without error can be a hard journey This is reinforced if you start pushing yourself beyond your familiar songs and genres or if you try to increase your vocal range.

As such, these three techniques will help give you the basic skills from which you can build from to become a better vocalist.

Breathing Techniques

This is the most important singing skill Your breathing must be perfected before you can expand your singing abilities further than a tune in the tub. As such when you are singing do not forget these important breathing techniques.

– Inhale all the way down to the diaphragm.. This is the deepest part of your lungs located below the ribcage. Holding breath here gives more air to fill your lungs.
– Control the air leaving your lungs via your diaphragm. Do not breathe out too quickly. Make sure to breathe out in a controlled manner befitting whatever song or notes you are singing.
– Practice breathing exercises every day to expand your lung volume and the control of inhalation and exhalation.

Posture

Posture is another base skill for vocalists. While you might see many singers on stage dancing around, jumping up and down and even doing death defying stuns singing the whole time they all started from a simpler posture and even now, while they are performing they will still keep many aspects of their foundation posture skills if you look closely.

– stand with spine straight, slouching will restrict your breathing and your vocal cords.
– keep your chin slightly raised as you sing but not too much to make sure you have good air flow and do not restrict your throat.
– Do not let your arms and elbows be too close to the body. Many amateur singers tend to crush their chest with their arms as they sing.
– Keep your hands out from your body and slightly elevated from a hanging position or clasp them in front of you.
– Be relaxed when you stand but keeping with these good posture tips.

Emotion

While it is important to cover the technical parts of singing never forget the fact that singing is an art form that is designed to spark imagination and emotion. No one wants to listen to scales singing but you must do that. However you must also set time aside to sing in an emotive way and feel the lyrics run through you and spill out to have real meaning to your listeners.

This comes from a LOVE for singing that sometimes vocal coaches can forget as they understandably try to teach the basics. Make sure to keep a strong passion for the art of singing by listening to singers, reading about singing, discovering more about singing and simply enjoy your favorite songs too.
